about

This music grew out of a wish to make our own incarnation of a sound surrounding us. A few years ago, we found ourselves amidst a whirlpool of musical styles colliding slowly like merging galaxies. Ambient, drone, different metal subgenres, minimalist composition, shoegaze, lofi DIY, all these different possible approaches to vast and slow music that had been growing together for a long time.

Our collective creativity seemed like just another point of intersection between all these genres. Felix brought with him the desolate roar of black metal, the weight of earthy doom, eternal power chords suspended in endless fiery feedback. I brought an electronic production style rooted in a love for expressive intricate textures and a wish to explore algorithmic composition and the shared ground between music and physics. Each song was created with its own distinct mix of processes, different explorations of the possibilities of this cluster of genres.

It grew into a story of unreturnable places. The peaceful solace of walking down lanes in your memory, the loneliness inherent in this, and the slow yet unstoppable change of your recollections. The physical place remains only as a mute monument, the point in time gone yet for whatever is left of it within you. The album was created during two consecutive summers as we returned to an island where we once lived together. Recordings of the streets we used to walk and the buildings we used to visit linger in the background, as well as the ever- present sea. The titles allude to our old shared life, but in way only accessible to us. Outward they tell the story of your own journey, back to some old stony place that’s still there inside you, slowly being lost to abrasion.
